One Blue

Cluster her entire photographic body of work down to nine colours and exactly one of them has any colour in it: a cobalt at 3.4 percent, sitting alone among eight neutrals that run from bone to true black. It is not an accident of one shoot. It appears in 2019 and again in 2025, and when the paintings are measured separately the closest chromatic match between the two bodies of work is this same blue. Her ground is #131111, the most common colour in her camera. Her paper is #F3F4F3. Everything between is grey with a little skin in it. And then the blue.
